Self-awareness and Resilience and Executive Leadership

As an individual who went from a start-up founder to a therapist, I definitely understand all the nuances and unique pressures that leadership can pose. Leadership is not just about guiding a team or making critical decisions (although you do a lot of that!) It is also about how you bounce back from setbacks and how you use those setbacks (resilience) to lead more effectively and successfully within your organization. If you can point to a failure or a negative outcome and turn it into a learning experience for your team, this is a stronger way to lead. It might seem scary to talk about your own setbacks with your team, but it can be an extremely effective tool to use as a way to illustrate setbacks as learning experiences.

Sometimes it is difficult to determine how much to disclose to your team when things don’t go to plan.  There is a balancing act between strength and vulnerability and being able to decide what to disclose and how to disclose it is a skill that takes time to develop . It is particularly tricky for a first time founder or leader.

Resilience is one of the pillars of effective leadership. The journey of the leader is one that is filled with both successes and failures. Resilience is not a thing we are born with; it is nurtured by our lived experiences, full of victories but on other occasions full of struggles and failures. It is accepting the feeling of the unknown, of failure, and trying relentlessly again when faced with difficulty.

As a coach, my efforts will be to help develop your ability to become more insightful in your own experiences and work with you to figure out how you can use these experiences to lead from a deeper part of yourself. We will  work together to understand how your own personal resilience can help you lead in a more profound way.

Leadership is a journey of continuous learning, self-reflection, and personal development. It requires one to be resilient, committed to personal development, and introspective.

Finally, coaching really goes beyond improving business performance. It  allows you to get a better understanding of yourself and how you got to be the way you are. Being able to be part of a leader's journey and seeing both  the leader and the  organization they are a part of grow is a privilege and a motivator for me as the coach..
